Jenny Sky Fung, producer, director and performer of Kaimera is a second generation Chinese American raised in New York City during the 80’s and 90’s. Her parents ran a sewing machine supply and repair business and a Hong Kong style restaurant in the heart of Chinatown. Sky grew up with an exposure to many communities, styles of dance and performance. At ten years old, Sky was recruited into a Chinese cultural dance troupe and Chinese lion dance team with whom she trained and performed with until she graduated high school. Engaging in modern, ballet, jazz, and hip-hop training offered through the public schools and community programs, Sky acquired a foundation in multiple styles. During her university years, Sky continued to expand her knowledge learning dances from other cultures such as African, Polynesian, Korean, Latin, Filipino, and Indian.

Moving to Hawaii, Sky pursued a Master’s degree in Culture, Dance and Performance Studies from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Living in Hawaii of over ten years, Sky became involved in organizations and events that helped promote dance and cultural awareness such as National Dance Week, running workshops and community jams featuring professional dancers from around the world. Notably, Sky competed and won the All Styles Battle two years in row in the widely recognized “World of Dance” Competition.

With the completion of her graduate degree in 2012, Sky went back to performing professionally, first touring with Benise: Nights of Fire, and then working as Producer’s Assistant, Choregrapher and Dance Captain for Burn’n Love: Elvis in Hawaii. In 2016, Sky moved to Los Angeles to expand her performing career with the intention of launching her own performance collective. Sky took on other forms of performance such as clowning, fire/flow props, drag king, burlesque and immersive/interactive character work. Sky is most well known for her specialities in contemporary cultural fusion, silk ribbons & fans, robot/mannequin, and immersive character. Incorporating her skills in large puppetry, cultural dance, and street dance styles with cirque theater acts, Sky created Kaimera Wanderbeasts. Currently Sky works in production management and immersive experiences for music festivals and corporate entertainment as well as performs with several shows/companies based in Los Angeles such as Fungineers, Red Giant Project, Subsuelo, Insomniac and running the Kaimera Wanderbeasts.
